Stroke Rehab

About Stroke Rehab

There are 2 types of strokes.  An ischemic stroke (90% of strokes) is when the blood flow to the brain is blocked by plaque build up or a blood clot, interrupting the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the brain.  Without these key components the brain cells begin to die quickly.  A hemorrhagic stroke (10% of strokes) is sudden bleeding in the brain from a ruptured blood cell causing increased pressure on brain cells causing them to become damaged. Because the brain controls the opposite side of our body, we will often see right sided deficits with a left brained stroke and vice versa.  The deficits seen following a stroke are often correlated to the area/s of the brain that were damaged.
