Massage Therapy

Types of Massages

Swedish: Want to zen out? Try a traditional Swedish treatment, the massage equivalent of being soothed by ocean waves. Highly beneficial for increased circulation and immunity, skin tone, restful sleep, and decreased stress and muscle tension.

Deep tissue massage: A deeper pressure treatment targeting deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Ideal for relief from musculoskeletal issues such as deep muscle tension, stiffness, strains, and injury recovery, as well as improving circulation and range of motion. Deep tissue does not have to mean painful pressure, we work within the client's tolerances and use multiple modalities to ease areas that may be sensitive to pressure. A Deep Tissue Massage can also be deeply relaxing.

Craniosacral session: A light touch therapy with gentle sustained pressure to trigger points. Craniosacral has astounding potential to unwind chronic patterns of tension, improve postural alignment, and shift the nervous system from fight /flight to rest/ reset/ digest. This technique is especially helpful for headaches, and neck and low back issues.

Sports Massage: A more vigorous, faster paced massage designed to invigorate tissue and prepare the client for physical activity. Sports massage increases blood flow, safely eases muscle tension, improves range of motion, and helps with injury prevention. Let us help you prepare for your next sporting event, race, or lifting competition!

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD) with a Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist: Effectively reduces traumatic and post-surgical edema (swelling), and can provide relief for headaches, arthritis, and other pain conditions as it is analgesic, as well as fatigue and bloating. MLD also provides significant relief from swelling in Lymphedema and symptom relief for Lipidema. Whether you are looking for help with a medical condition and cleared for MLD by your doctor or PT, or general immune support and a boost to your body's natural cleansing system, MLD is light, relaxing work with a host of benefits.

Head, Neck, and Jaw Focus Work: While we can focus wherever a client needs extra work during any type of massage, specialized head, neck, and jaw work can provide relief from TMJD, headache and migraine, and common pain and problems involving the neck, including limited range of motion.

Cupping: An excellent addition to other manual massage techniques, cupping can help reduce tension and pain by increasing blood flow, stretching and mobilizing the fascia and muscles in a new way, helping to break up adhesions, and providing decompressive rather than compressive therapy. Tight, sensitive muscles that are not responding well to deep pressure often respond very well to cupping.

Hot Stone Massage: Another deeply relaxing type of massage, hot stones melt tension from your body while being alternated with the manual work of your choice, such as Swedish Massage or Deep Tissue. Not to be used over areas where a joint has been replaced, so please keep your massage therapist up to date on your medical history.
