Shockwave Therapy

About Shockwave Therapy

The OrthoPulse Ultra 100 is a compressed air ballistic pulse wave generator. The pulse waves in the device are generated with a precision ballistic mechanism in the handpiece. A projectile is accelerated by compressed air. The motion and weight of the projectile produce kinetic energy. When the projectile impacts against an immovable surface, the pulse transmitter, this kinetic energy is converted into sound energy. This acoustic pulse is transmitted into the tissue to be treated either directly or via an acoustic impedance adapter with the help of a gel. These pressure waves stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood circulation, and accelerate the healing process. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals. As an alternative to surgery, the procedure includes 3-5 sessions.

Benefits of Shockwave Therapy

With its progressive technological advancements, Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT), often referred to as ESWT or shock wave, delivers an evidence-based*, non-surgical solution for patients suffering from chronic soft tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament and fascia) pain. Cape Concierge Physical Therapy is using EPAT to successfully treat acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain and/or pain that significantly impairs mobility or quality of life.

  • Foot and ankle: plantar fasciitis, achilles tendionopathy, chronic ankle sprains

  • Lower extremity: hamstring tendinopathy, patella tendonitis, hip bursitis.

  • Upper extremity: elbow tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, duquatrins

  • Shoulder: rotator cuff strain, adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder)

Pricing For Shockwave Therapy

The currently evidence indicates combined ESWT and exercise interventions for tendinopathy, especially when calcification exists, to achieve superior long-term outcomes. Which is why, Cape Concierge Physical Therapy has treatment plans combining shockwave therapy, stretching  and eccentric strengthening. Shockwave therapy is not covered by any insurance companies but you can use your HSA/FSA accounts to pay for it. Additionally, you can submit receipts to your insurance company after treatment and get reimbursed using your out of network benefits for the physical therapy treatment.

Each treatment is $250 and most conditions only require 3 treatments if further treatment is indicated, the cost will be discounted.
