What if the most powerful tool for a longer, healthier life isn't a supplement, a surgery, or the latest wellness trend flooding your social media feed?
What if it's knowledge?
That's the question at the heart of Strong, Inside and Out — a brand-new podcast I'm launching to bridge the gap between complex clinical science and the everyday decisions you make about your health, your body, and your future.
I'm Dr. Ashley Katzenback, physical therapist, practice owner, and movement health specialist at Cape Concierge Physical Therapy, with offices in Sandwich and The Pinehills and in-home services stretching from Chatham to Duxbury. After nearly 20 years in clinical practice, I've seen something over and over again: the best outcomes don't come from great treatment alone. They come from informed patients.
Strong, Inside and Out is my way of putting that information directly in your hands — wherever you are, whatever stage of life you're in.
Why I Started This Podcast
We are living in an era of information overload.
Every week, there's a new supplement, a new protocol, a new influencer promising that their routine will change your life. And sorting through it — figuring out what's backed by science and what's just really good marketing — takes time most of us don't have.
I started this podcast because people deserve better than that. They deserve access to honest, evidence-based information delivered by actual experts — not just whoever happens to have the biggest following.
And here's what makes Strong, Inside and Out a little different: we're keeping it local. Cape Cod, the South Shore, Boston — there is extraordinary clinical expertise in our own backyard. Remarkable physicians, researchers, dietitians, and specialists who are doing meaningful work and have genuinely useful things to say. This podcast is a platform to bring those voices directly to you.
Great information shouldn't require a trip to a major medical center or a $500 concierge consultation. It should be accessible. That's the whole point.
What the Show Is About
The tagline for Strong, Inside and Out is simple: we treat education as medicine.
Each episode is built around evidence-based insight — translating clinical science into practical, actionable guidance you can take out of the episode and put to work in your real life. We're not chasing longevity for its own sake. We're building better days. Stronger bodies. Sharper minds. The tools to navigate every phase of life — from your 30s through your 80s — with confidence and capability.
Whether you're managing a diagnosis, trying to optimize your performance, supporting a parent or a partner through a health challenge, or simply trying to stay ahead of the curve — this show is built for you.
A Look at What's Coming This Season
Season 1 is going to cover a lot of ground. Here's a preview of what's in store.
Energy Drinks, Supplements, and the Science of What You're Actually Consuming
We're bringing in a registered dietitian to finally have an honest conversation about the supplement industry. What's in your pre-workout? What does the research actually say about the most popular energy drinks? And more importantly — what might some of these products be doing to your body that no one's talking about?
If you're someone who takes supplements, trains hard, or has a teenager reaching for a Bang or a Prime before practice, this one is essential listening.
Longevity Biomarkers: What Your Annual Bloodwork Might Be Missing
Your doctor orders labs every year. You get a call a few days later: "Everything looks normal." And yet, something doesn't feel right. Or maybe you're completely healthy — but you want to stay that way for decades.
We're sitting down with a longevity specialist to talk about the biomarkers that actually matter for a longer, healthier life, what's often missing from standard panels, and how to advocate for more meaningful data at your next appointment.
GLP-1 Medications: An Honest, Judgment-Free Look at Ozempic and Wegovy
GLP-1 receptor agonists have changed the conversation around weight loss and metabolic health. The results are real. But as these medications become more mainstream, the questions are getting more complicated.
What does long-term use look like? What do we still not know? What happens to muscle mass, bone density, and metabolism over time? We're not here to take a political stance on these medications — we're here to give you the clinical picture so you can make an informed decision.
Microdosing: What the Science Says
The conversation around microdosing psychedelics has moved from the fringe to the mainstream at a remarkable pace. Whether you've heard about it from a friend, a news headline, or your own curiosity — the discussion is happening. So let's make sure it's grounded in actual evidence. We're going to sort through what the emerging research shows, what's still unknown, and how to think critically about the claims being made.
Pain Management Beyond the Prescription Pad
Chronic pain is one of the most undertreated and misunderstood conditions in modern healthcare. Too often, patients are handed a prescription and sent home — without a full picture of what else is available, what the research supports, or how movement, lifestyle, and rehabilitative care fit into a complete pain management strategy.
As a physical therapist, this one is personal. We're going to have a frank conversation about what options exist, what the evidence actually says, and why movement is so often the missing piece.
Alzheimer's Prevention: What We Can Do Earlier Than You Think
For many families, Alzheimer's disease is the health threat they fear most and feel least prepared for. The research on early intervention and prevention has advanced significantly in recent years — and there are meaningful, evidence-based things people can do, decades before symptoms typically appear, to support long-term brain health.
This episode is going to be one of the most important conversations of the season.
What Do We Want Our Children to Know Right Now?
We close out the thematic arc of the season with a question I think about constantly in my work with young athletes and families: what are the habits, the physical literacy skills, the health conversations, and the early interventions that set children up for a lifetime of strength?
Not just physical strength — but metabolic resilience, emotional regulation, and the kind of foundational health that compounds over decades.
If you have kids, coach kids, or care about the next generation's wellbeing, this one is for you.
Wellness Trends: Fact or Fiction — A Season-Long Series
Woven throughout the entire season is a segment I'm particularly fired up about: Wellness Trends: Fact or Fiction.
We're taking the protocols, products, and promises you're seeing all over your feed — cold plunging, red light therapy, continuous glucose monitors for non-diabetics, mouth taping for sleep, seed oils, raw milk, and more — and putting them in front of clinical experts who will give us a straight answer. No fluff. No agenda. Just the science.
