Aging in Place & Fall Prevention
Stay in the home you love, longer
Strength, balance, and confidence for living independently, built in your own home.
Most people want to stay in their own home as they age. What makes that possible isn’t luck. It’s strength, balance, and a home that’s set up to support you.
Our Doctors of Physical Therapy work with older adults and their families to build the physical foundation for independent living, and to catch fall risks before they turn into injuries.
Signs it may be time
- A recent fall, or a near-miss you brushed off
- Holding onto furniture or walls to get around
- Difficulty getting up from a chair, the toilet, or the floor
- Feeling unsteady on stairs, curbs, or uneven ground
- Walking less, or avoiding outings, because of fear of falling
- A family member who has noticed changes and is worried
How we help
- Fall risk screening. We use standardized balance and mobility tests to measure where you are today and track your progress over time.
- Balance and strength training. Targeted, progressive exercise to rebuild leg strength, reaction time, and steadiness. Strength is one of the most powerful tools for staying independent.
- Transfer safety. Practice getting in and out of bed, chairs, the shower, and the car, in your own home, with your own furniture.
- Home safety walkthrough. We look at lighting, rugs, stairs, bathroom setup, and pathways, then give specific, practical recommendations.
- Getting up from the floor. We teach you a safe way to get up after a fall, and what to do if you can’t.
- Caregiver and family training. We show family members how to help safely, without risking injury to themselves or their loved one.
Built for the long term
Aging in place isn’t a single appointment. Our concierge model lets us work with you over time, adjusting your plan as your needs change, so you stay strong for the things you care about: gardening, grandkids, walks on the beach, and your own front steps.
